Goal 2:  All educators, administrators, and technical support team members will benefit from technology-rich professional development opportunities.  Learners will, in turn, benefit from the increased educational and technical support offered by the District. 

 

  • Send out a quarterly (minimum) newsletter that will inform staff members of professional development opportunities, technology tips and trends, and classroom grants.

  • Request assistance from the District Attorney, Attorney General, or another well-versed representative in planning and delivering internet safety training. 

  • Comply with Louisiana’s State Law (RS 17:416.13) on cyberbullying to provide a minimum of four hours of training for new employees who have contact with students and two hours of training each year for all school employees who have contact with students, including bus drivers, with respect to bullying.  The training shall specifically include the following:

 

  • To recognize the behaviors defined as bullying in Louisiana State Law RS 17:416.13[1]

  • How to identify students at each grade level in the employee's school who are most likely to become victims of bullying, while not excluding any student from protection from bullying

  • How to use appropriate intervention and remediation techniques and procedures

  • The procedures by which incidents of bullying are to be reported to school officials

  • Provide information on suicide prevention, including the relationship between suicide risk factors and bullying. This content shall be based on information supported by peer-reviewed research conducted in compliance with accepted scientific methods and recognized as accurate by leading professional organizations and agencies with relevant experience\

 

  • Take advantage of computer-based testing webinars and training events offered by Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE). 

  • Encourage staff members to subscribe to LDOE’s iTunes U page in order to take advantage of recorded trainings.

  • Maintain online database of technology-related lessons and tools.  Encourage contributions from educators throughout the District.

  • Network Technology staff will participate in trainings offered to advance certification(s) in products deployed by the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board.

  • IT Staff will “shadow” out-source technology vendors as they repair, upgrade or configure equipment for the District.
